SHELL BOOST PROGRAM HOSTED
FLETCHER TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE’S INTEGRATED PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGIES STUDENTS
ROBERT, LA – Shell Robert Training Facility hosted Fletcher Technical Community College’s Integrated Production Technologies (IPT) students for the third time in a modified BOOST (Basic Offshore Operations Skills Training) program. To date, Fletcher has had thirty students participate in the BOOST program. This unique, hands-on learning opportunity was customized for Fletcher students to deepen their understanding of deepwater principles and expose them to industry culture during simulated “real-world” production platform operations. Fletcher IPT instructors collaborated with Shell trainers to create a curriculum that built upon the theories taught in the IPT program and blended technical classroom instruction with practical hands on experience. Through grant funds from ConocoPhillips and Shell, the cost of the program is reduced and students pay the tuition and fees for a 3 credit hour course.
