Schriever, LA – “…With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician, in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care.” Some might recognize this passage as a portion of the Nightingale Pledge. For those not familiar, this pledge is named for the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale, and is often recited at graduation/pinning ceremonies for nurses.

The hallowed pledge echoed down the halls the evening of May 13, 2019, during the 2019 Practical Nursing Pinning Ceremony at Fletcher Technical Community College.

“We are very proud of our students who have completed Fletcher’s Practical Nursing program,” commented Fletcher Chancellor Dr. Kristine Strickland. “To be called to care for others during their time of need is indeed a noble profession. These students have worked tremendously hard to achieve their nursing credential and we congratulate them on achieving this milestone, and wish them the best in their future endeavors.”

Since February 1965 when the program was approved, 1,136 students have graduated from Fletcher’s Practical Nursing Program. For more information on the program, including application documents, please visit https://www.fletcher.edu/programs/practical-nursing/, or call (985) 448-5944.
