(Schriever, LA) – Fletcher Technical Community College proudly celebrated the accomplishments of its 18th cohort of Certified Line Worker Program graduates during a completion ceremony held on Thursday, April 10, 2025. The event took place in Fletcher’s new Workforce Training Building, located on the main campus at 1407 Highway 311, Schriever, Louisiana.
This spring, 15 students successfully completed the 22-week program, which includes NCCER certification, CDL training, and job placement assistance. Graduates are now prepared for entry-level positions as line helpers and apprentices with electric utility companies.
The keynote speaker for the ceremony was Shawn Quinn, Southeast Louisiana Region Manager for Entergy, who reflected on his own journey in the field. He shared, "The best job I’ve ever had in my life was as a lineman… I did that job for ten years and I’m proud of that. You are serving your community. While everybody else is scrambling during a hurricane and people are leaving for the storms, you guys are on the front line getting those lights turned on. You need to take pride in that."
The Certified Line Worker Training Program at Fletcher continues to meet a critical workforce need across Louisiana, especially in storm-prone regions. The next cohort will begin in June 2025, and applications are currently open. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply early, as space is limited.
“This program represents the power of workforce training at its best—equipping students with industry-recognized credentials and connecting them directly to local job opportunities,” said Jodi Duet, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academics & Effectiveness at Fletcher. “We’re proud of these graduates and confident they’ll play a critical role in keeping our communities powered and connected.”
