LPN Refresher (Online)
WELCOME
We are so glad you're here! The LPN refresher course is a Validated Skills & Learning (VSL) course provided to individuals who are seeking reinstatement or renewal of their LPN license
COURSE OVERVIEW
The LPN Refresher is a VSL course. The curriculum is approved by the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners (LSBPNE) for LPNs requiring completion of the theory component of a refresher course. To determine eligibility status for licensure reinstatement/renewal, nurses must contact LSBPNE prior to enrolling into the course. The course is self-paced, online and covers all topics of the LPN in Louisiana including law, nursing process, documentation, infection control, pharmacology, basic and advanced skills, geriatrics, medical surgical, obstetrics, and pediatric nursing. The course consists of thirteen modules with an exam for each and must be completed within a 6 month period.
Successful completion of the theory portion of the course must occur with an 80% or better before the LPN can be considered for issuance of a temporary permit. LSBPNE requires the successful completion of a didactic (theory) portion and a clinical portion of the refresher course. The nurse is responsible for finding a clinical site and an RN Preceptor in an adult medical surgical setting to complete the 60 hours of clinical practicum after being issued a temporary permit. Upon successful completion of the didactic portion the nurse should follow the guidelines per LSBPNE to apply for a temporary permit, required PRIOR to providing patient care during the clinical component. Visit www.lsbpne.com or contact at 504-838-5791 for more information regarding temporary permit application/requirements for nurses enrolled in a refresher course. The nurse may be required to provide proof of certain vaccinations, titers, certifications, drug screens, or background checks to the clinical facility in the onboarding process prior to beginning the clinical portion.
Students who are unsuccessful or do not complete the course within the 6 month period will receive a "U". Students will have a maximum of two attempts to take this course. This course will require the use of a webcam with Respondus LockDown Browser when taking exams. Learn more about the course exam requirements.
