Transcript Evaluation Process
How Fletcher reviews incoming college transcripts for transfer credit
The Records and Registration Office evaluates official college transcripts to determine whether previous coursework may transfer to Fletcher. The information below explains what students need to submit, how the review process works, and when to expect updates.
Transcript evaluation can begin when both of the following are in place:
- Fletcher has received an official academic transcript directly from the sending institution.
- You have an active application on file and/or are currently enrolled in coursework at Fletcher.
Official transcripts may be sent electronically or by mail. Transcripts must come directly from the sending institution to Fletcher.
An official academic transcript is sent directly from one institution to another. Fletcher cannot evaluate or post unofficial transcripts to a student account.
A transcript is considered unofficial if:
- The seal is broken or the packaging is damaged on a mailed transcript.
- The student received the transcript by email and forwarded it to Fletcher.
- The transcript did not come directly from the sending institution.
Fletcher accepts official academic transcripts from institutions accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies:
- Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
- Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
- New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE)
- Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU)
- Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
- WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC)
- Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC)
Coursework from institutions that are not regionally accredited is not accepted automatically. Students may request a course review by submitting:
- An official academic transcript
- A syllabus for each course the student would like reviewed
- Instructor credentials for each course submitted for review
Once all required documents are received, the coursework will be reviewed by the appropriate dean or department head. Students will be notified once a decision has been made.
How transcript articulation works
Once Fletcher receives an official transcript, the Records and Registration Office reviews the coursework for possible Fletcher course equivalencies. If additional information is needed, such as a course description or a syllabus, the student will be contacted.
Approved transfer credit will be posted to the student account, and the student will be notified when the evaluation is complete.
How long does transcript evaluation take?
Most Louisiana in-state transcripts are processed within one week. Out-of-state transcripts typically take two to three weeks. Evaluations may take longer during peak registration periods or when additional course review is needed.
Checking possible course equivalencies
Students transferring coursework from a Louisiana institution may use the Louisiana Board of Regents Articulation and Transfer resources to review possible course equivalencies.
To search the Interactive Course Articulation Matrix:
- Select the Louisiana institution where the course was completed as the home institution.
- Select Fletcher as the transfer institution.
- Choose the subject or course abbreviation to view possible Fletcher equivalencies.
The matrix is a helpful guide, but it may not include every transferable course. If a course is not listed, it may still be reviewed for possible transfer credit.
For questions about transcript evaluation, articulation, or the status of a submitted transcript, please contact the Records and Registration Office.
